In April 2008 the Webmaster of this site traveled to New York State to learn more about Playboy cars and to view some cars that had not been previously photographed and chronicled for this site. This page is dedicated to that New York trip.
This is car #56. It is owned by a gentleman who actually worked for the Playboy car company in 1948. The photo below shows this car owner working in the factory during that time. He is in the center of the photo on the driver's side of a Playboy car.
And here is a short video of this car driving:
This yellow car pictured below has an unknown serial number. We are attempting to establish its current whereabouts. This photo is from 1991.
Below is car #62, also pictured around 1991. We have recently made contact again with this owner and have posted updated photos of this car. on the "News and Updates" page of this site.
In 1948, car #3 was being driven by a relative of one of the founders of the company when it was involved in a rollover accident and was wrecked. Here is a vintage photo of car #3, wrecked.
While in New York State we visited many Playboy cars. Here is a photo of the Playboy prototype (the first car built) as well as the LAST Playboy car built, the unfinished last vehicle that still has an odometer reading of 00000 !
There also was a wooden mold made out of solid mahogany, which was going to be used to form the metal body panels of the production cars if they had ever gone into production. That mold still exists !
This is car #7, currently in storage and awaiting a future restoration??
Below is car #68, perhaps also a candidate for a future restoration.
Below, from left to right are cars #68, 92, and 94. Perhaps the only modern photo of THREE Playboy cars together.
Below is a sad photo, showing what little is left of car #41.
Playboy cars currently on public display in New York State include car #51, the white car below, on display at the Pierce Auto Museum in Buffalo, New York, and car #83, the red car below, which is on display at the Northeast Classic Car Museum in Norwich, New York.
